Hi to all our followers. Jodi and I have pretty silent since January. Well, truthfully, I have been silent for much longer than that!!
This past weekend, my oldest daughter got married!! I have been super busy for the last 7 months planning the wedding! I literally had no time to do much of anything. If it wasn't wedding related, then it just did not get done.
I have such mixed feelings today! The planning is over, the cake has been eaten (and many, many pieces put in the freezer), the dress has been worn and is now dirty, and the company has all left! This momma is feeling pretty blue today. Don't get me wrong, I am super happy for the new Mr. and Mrs.! It is just so hard to give your daughter away to someone else!

The wedding took place on the deck of our lake house. It was a very small, intimate wedding with just a few friends and family. IT WAS PERFECT!
Yes, there were a few tears shed, but they were tears of happiness!
The reception was a big affair with about 110 people attending. We had the reception at the Community Center in town (at the lake). The decorations were perfect, the food was very tasty and the entertainment was superb!
My daughter is married, off on a wonderful honeymoon and VERY happy. What more can a momma hope for?
So now it is time for reality to set in. There are dishes to wash, floors to clean, a LOT of laundry to do, and dead flowers to throw away! BUT.....
I am going to sew, because......
Daugther #2 is expecting another baby, due in September!! I am so glad that I have something so wonderful to look forward to for the next several months!
Will Sweet Pea have a brother or a sister? We will find out in May!! Not only do I get to make a new baby quilt and other baby things, but I also get to make a new bed quilt for Sweet Pea! I can hardly wait to get back to my machine!
I did make a very large king quilt for daughter #1 and her husband (eek!). It is a log cabin quilt with the design being a heart. My daughter and her husband (eek!) asked for a quilt with blues, greens and a little purple. I think it turned out very, very pretty! I don't have any good pictures of the quilt, so I will show those to you later!
Ok, now onto some really, really bad news. My sister fell last Thurs. and broke two bones in her leg and several bones in her ankle!!! I feel slightly responsible since she was on her way to the lake to be with me and be my right hand during all the wedding activities! Her flight left very early and she left her daughter's condo around 4 in the morning. Her daughter lives on the second floor, and when my sister was going down the stairs, she didn't realize that there was one-last-step!! She missed it and ended up breaking the bones. She could not get up and absolutely could not put any weight on the leg, so she had to lay on the ground for an hour waiting for the ambulance. Thankfully, she had her cell phone handy and was able to call her daughter, who was still in bed asleep. I am so glad that she didn't have to lay there by herself! The ambulance came and took her to the hospital where they discovered all of the broken bones. She had surgery where they inserted a steel plate and pins. She spent several days in the hospital, but is now home and is beginning the healing process! She cannot put any weight on the leg for several weeks, so she must rely on friends and family for almost everything. And, since it is her right leg, she can't drive or SEW!! How awful would that be? I am hopeful that she has some hand work to do. Anyone have any suggestions or any fun projects that she could do while recuperating? If so, let me know! And, if you would like to send her a note or even a fun hand project, please let me know via email and I will send you her address. I know that she would love to hear from you.
My email is: dunesmom@hotmail.com
So, my list for today includes laundry, dishes, beds, sewing, and calling my sister! Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers today and for the next several months!
Hugs,
Jackie

ReplyDeleteJackie- The wedding photos are lovely, and your daughter looks so happy! I'm glad it was so nice for all of you, and I totally understand the post wedding blues! It's hard to let our daughters go!
ReplyDeleteJodi-- Now really, if you didn't want to make Bee blocks you could have just said so! You didn't need to do something so dramatic to get out of it~ =)
Seriously, though, I am so very sorry to hear about your accident! What an awful and painful thing to happen. I hope you heal up quickly and thoroughly so you can get back to doing all the things you love!
Hi Jackie!! It's Jackie T!! Your daughter is glowing in those pictures and she looks amazing!! Blessings to the new couple. I have an 18 year old daughter, and she is fighting for her independence right now and I realized how much we love our daughters and how they are such a part of our lives and we just need to let them go, our job is done. Just a thought I was having today. Anyway, glad to see new life is expected as well! How fun!
ReplyDeleteJodi, I am so sorry for your injuries. I have endured similar and it is a long process, and God will be with you. You could do some wonderful redwork embroidery, just find some pattern you would like to do or make a felted wool penny rug. I will see if I have something here to send you!! Let people help you!! They love you!!
