Precious Truett

Isn't he just the cutest??

"Please, please be in prayer for our sweet Truett. We found out this morning that his little heart is getting worse, and we've scheduled surgery for Thursday morning around 11. He'll be just shy of 7 weeks old. It's so hard to watch my baby go through this, but we are holding on to the promises of God and we trust that he is sovereign and very much in control of Truett's little life". These were the words of our daughter-in-law, Kate. If you would like to follow Truett's progress, please check out her blog.

Isn't life hard at times??? We are so thankful to be surrounded by God's love!!

Are You Cool Yet?

It has been really hot across the country. I feel very blessed to live in Colorado where it is hot during the day and will cool down in the evenings! It does get hot enough around here to enjoy the pool. This is how Maren cools off while she is at Gigi's House.

Playing with "Auntie Tutu"

Watering Papa & Gigi's feet. You have to look closely!

Getting watered to stay cool! Papa, the water is pretty cold!

Fun at the Water Park in Maren's Neighborhood

Swimming lessons at the neighborhood pool

Yes, I can kick and splash!

Playing on a "Slip & Slide"

Birthday Party for Cousin Parker!

It is supposed to be a hot one again tomorrow. We will be heading to the water park and neighborhood pool. Maren loves it and love watching her learn how to swim.
What do you do to stay cool in the summer? I LOVE my fans!!

Luv ya, Gigi

Quilt Shows - Inspiring

Some friends and I went to Denver to the Colorado Capital Quilt Show. We had so much fun seeing all the quilts, laughing, going out to lunch, and finishing up with Yogurt!! YUM YUM
I just wanted to share all these fun quilts with you. The colors, the fabrics, the quilting, and all the talent are so fun to enjoy!! Maybe you will feel like you almost made it to Quilt Show with me!!

Oh yes, I was taken back to my childhood with this old telephone booth. I tried to call my sister to tell her how much fun we were having and that I wished she was with us!

Remember theses????

Any way, I either forgot how to use it or they have been recently updated......because something was really wrong with this picture!!

How do you dial on that????

At least I did try to call!!

Sew, Sew Busy!

I am trying to get caught up on my bee blocks. I am making progress however still have more work to do. These blocks are for my Calendar of Houses Bee. I have two special blocks left to do, one for my sister, Jackie, and the other for a dear friend, Carla. Check her out at Lollyquiltz!
This block is for July. Don't you just love hanging clothes out in the fresh air?

This block is for August. I always celebrate the "last days of summer" as I hate to see them go!

I will come up with something fun for Jackie and Carla......I do have a few ideas.

A quilting friend of mine is moving so some of us are making a blocks for her. I was even given fabric for the block. I got it done and I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with!

I am also working on a quilt for our baby who will be born in August. I have made 3 sheets, a bed skirt and am working on the quilt. I know the suspense is tough but you will just have to wait until I have pics to share!!

Sew Busy

It has been a productive week as I have been finishing up some projects. For every grandchild, I make a play mat for them to play on. It has a special meaning that I want them to grow up knowing! I hope you can read the center square. Doesn't this look like fun with all the colors and things to look at?

For about 2 months now I have been stewing over the Koffman Kona Cotton Challenge that I have been doing through the Front Range Modern Quilt Guild. Our guild put the following guidelines on our quilts.

1. We had to use every fabric from the charm pack in our quilt.
2. We could only add 1 solid fabric to the front of our quilt.
3. The back and binding could be from any fabric that we wanted to use.
4. It needed to be completed, quilting and all, by our July 11th meeting.

There you have it!! This is what I came up with.

I named my quilt "Circles in Life"!

The label for my quilt

"Our family is a circle of strength and love, with every birth and every union, the circle will grow, every joy shared adds more love, every crisis faced together, makes the circle stronger." Author Unknown

Have fun quilting!!

So proud to be an American

We had a great time with family and friends for our 4th of July celebration!! We were able to attend 3 different picnics with lots of food, enjoy great conversations, watch a parade, and see fireworks. The parade in Monument is a tradition going back many years. They say that it is the largest 4th of July parade in the state. It is very patriotic and full of different floats, bands, firetrucks, animals, etc. Maren loved being in the children's parade and every time a flag came by she would say, "Come on guys, stand up stand up!" She was very good at running for the candy, and for me, she definitely made the parade fun!!

Maren and her Daddy in the parade with all the children!

Maren kept telling me, "Gigi, you cheered for me!"

My husband rode in the parade. He is waving at me!!

It was very hot so a snow cone was in order!!

One of the floats for the Marines!

There were many fun things for the kids.........rides, elephants, tall tall clowns, etc.

Even when life is tough and the economy isn't what we would like it to be, we have a lot to be thankful for! God is good!

Happy 4th of July dear friends!
Luv ya, Jodi
